I dance because it’s fun and when I dance nothing else matters because I’m living in the rhythm of the moment!

I dance because it keeps me aligned with culture as a whole. Growing up, I studied Filipino folk dance, amongst various other common dance styles, which enabled me to not only learn the rich history of the Philippines (my mother’s motherland), but gain confidence while performing with fellow peers who were also Filipino-American like myself.

Dance is a huge influential part of my world that opened a plethora of opportunities to me growing up. With the special talent of dance, I was able to represent my Filipino community during my reigns as Little Miss Philippines of Virginia 2001-2003 and Miss Philippines of Virginia 2008-2010. I used dance to put smiles on the faces of many near and far while performing and traveled to new measures with it over the past 20 years.
Dance has exposed me to cultures other than my own that I have also taken the time to study and teach such as Hawaiian, Tahitian, Maori, and Latin Zumba, just to name a few.
Why I dance? Because there’s truly no better creative outlet to express your inner self!

When I dance I feel love for everyone and everything!  I become one with the movement and it takes me to a place beyond myself where I am free!
Dance allows me to untangle myself emotionally, and move beyond daily struggles…

I dance to express myself, to feel free, to be artistic, to be passionate and for the sheer fun and love of it. To dance is to be.  Movement is life, and therefore dance encompasses all the aspects of life.  I feel very fortunate to be able to dance expressively and passionately.

Oh God – why do I dance?  Dance has saved my life and continues to do so.  I dance because it feeds me.  It brings me closest to what’s true.  It loves me and I love it.  It’s a bond that will never go away .
I grew up in a foster home and proceded to live with wonderful people – shuffled throughout my teens, landing finally with 2 loving parents and 2 sisters.  My father was a truck driver and my mother was a stay at home parent.  My sisters married early.  Dance found me.  I became confident and independent. Nobody understood – but that did not matter .

I’m a ballroom dancer, and I dance because I love moving with the music, feeling like I’m flying through air. I dance because I love the movement and the connection between two people, the translation of music into the movement and communication of two bodies. Dancing makes me feel alive.

I love dancing because it makes me feel alive.
I listen to the beat, feel the beat, move to the beat.
I am the beat.
You isolate your body
and while you move your hips, shoulders, arms, knees.
It is all of one body,
and the movements flow as a fluidity,
moving to the music; the beat.
The movements are all an extension of what begins in your very core,
and all movement originates from within.
(while the music flows both into you in sound form,
and out of you in visual form)
