She began teaching dance at age 12 in Santa Cruz CA and has taught in Rio de Janeiro (Brasil)\, Salvador (Brasil) and Los Angeles CA. Gisella lives in Los Angeles\, where she choreographs\, teaches dance\, and performs with her own company\, Samba Soul. She can also be found performing at The Floor Show and improv nights around LA. \nShe also tours and performs worldwide and trains extensively in the U.S. as well as Brasil in many dance forms including Capoeira\, Samba and Hip-Hop.  She was named one of “LA’s Hottest Trainers” in 2012 and has been active in Health day LA as well as Let’s Move LA\, dedicating time to help the LA community become more active and inspired through dance. \nGisella Ferreira loves sharing her passion for life through artistic movement expression\, and dances as a form of  energy work & healing for herself and others. Last month\, Kelly was honored with the Dean’s Award for the MS in Nutritional Science class of 2020 for her contributions to the University and her local community. She is currently completing her hours as a dietetic intern and will sit for the national exam this fall to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). She served on the board for the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics-Orange District as a student board member from 2016-2019. Kelly more recently presented at Memorial Care Long Beach Medical Center’s 32nd Annual Heart Healthy Event where she discussed heart healthy ingredients prevalent in the Mediterranean diet. She has worked as a diet technician and counselor at an inpatient residential facility for adolescent eating disorders for over 3 years. As a former dancer at Dancer’s Edge in Visalia\, CA\, Kelly aims to help dancers have a healthy relationship with food and reap the benefits of proper nutrition. Upon passing the RDN exam this fall\, Kelly aspires to work as a clinical dietitian and dreams of one day opening up a private practice that specializes in disordered eating and women’s health. \nClass Description: Presentation on nutrition basics and Q&A

In its fifth year\, Dancer for a Day will work with kids\, ages 8-18\, who want to pursue dance as a career\, to participate in a day filled with class taking\, a nutritional workshop\, and a performance & Q&A with a dance company. \nSince we are faced with COVID-19 pandemic\, we are going virtual this year. This will give us the opportunity to serve more kids from all over the world. We will look at anatomical images corresponding to the tissues we are addressing and cover healthy post-release stretching. Dancers and the general public are welcome. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own favorite foam roller (or massage ball or other self-massage tool). Space for this workshop\, provided in conjunction with the Harkness Center Healthy Dancer Initiative\, is generously provided by the Mark Morris Dance Center. \nAbout the Instructor: Lauren McIntyre\, ATC \nMs. McIntyre has been providing care for dancers of all genres and levels at HCDI since 2010. She gives numerous educational lectures\, workshops\, and wellness assessments for dancers annually and serves as athletic trainer and dance anatomy professor at SUNY Purchase College\, Conservatory of Dance.
